ארינדם צ'קרברטי

ארינדם צ'קרברטי (באנגלית: Arindam Chakrabarti; נולד בספטמבר 1954) הוא פילוסוף הודי העוסק בפילוסופיה השוואתית בתחומי הפילוסופיה של הלשון, אסתטיקה, אתיקה, מטאפיזיקה ועוד. צ'קרברטי מכהן כפרופסור מן המניין באוניברסיטת הוואי .

הגותו משלבת הגות בסנסקריט, יחד עם פילוסופיה מערבית, ובפרט הפילוסופיה האנליטית בה התמחה במסגרת לימודיו באוקספורד; בכך, הוא משלב בין העולם של הפילוסוף האקדמי לבין העולם של הפאנדיט ההודי המסורתי. כתיבתו מתמקדת במפגש בין אסתטיקה, אתיקה ומטאפיזיקה. בנוסף לפרסומיו באנגלית, פרסם ספר אחד בסנסקריט ושישה ספרים בבנגאלי.

ביוגרפיה

צ'קרברטי נולד בבנגל. החל מילדותו למד סנסקריט וספרות הודית מסורתית. צ'קרברטי קיבל תואר ראשון ב-1976 ותואר שני ב-1978, מאוניברסיטת קולקטה . את הדוקטורט קיבל ב-1982 באוניברסיטת אוקספורד, עבודת הדוקטורט שלו עסקה בפילוסופיה של השפה בהנחיית סר פיטר סטרוסון וסר מייקל דאמט. הוא החזיק בעבר במשרת הוראה באוניברסיטת דלהי .
