עודד ליפשיץ (נולד ב-15 במאי 1963) הוא פרופסור חבר בחוג לארכיאולוגיה ותרבויות המזרח הקדום באוניברסיטת תל אביב, ראש המכון לארכיאולוגיה ע"ש נדלר באוניברסיטת תל אביב, וראש התוכנית ללימודי ישראל הקדום.

חייו ופועלו

עודד ליפשיץ נולד בירושלים. שירת בצה"ל בשנים 1985-1981. למד לתואר ראשון שני ושלישי באוניברסיטת תל אביב. קיבל את הדוקטורט בשנת 1997, אותו עשה בבית הספר למדעי היהדות באוניברסיטת תל אביב בהנחייתו של פרופסור נדב נאמן. נושא הדיסרטציה היה: "פחוות 'יהוד' תחת שלטון בבל (586-539 לפנה"ס): מציאות היסטורית ותפישות היסטוריוגרפיות." עיבוד של העבודה יצא לאור בספר. ב-1998 הצטרף לאוניברסיטה כמרצה. בשנת 2002 מונה ליפשיץ מרצה בכיר בחוג להיסטוריה של עם ישראל באוניברסיטת תל אביב, ב-2008 מונה לפרופסור חבר. מאז 2004 ליפשיץ עומד בראש הפרוייקט הארכיאולוגי ברמת רחל, ומאז 2008 בראש הפרוייקט הארכיאולוגי בתל עזקה.

ספרו של ליפשיץ שיצא לאור בשנת 2004 הוא מחקר על תקופה שנכתב אודותיה מעט. הספר דן בחלק מעם ישראל שנשאר ביהודה לאחר חורבן בית ראשון ועד לראשית תקופת בית שני.

לפי השיטות ההיסטוריוגרפיות המקובלות, הנסמכות על המקור המקראי, זוהי תקופה אפלה בתולדות העם היהודי, שכמעט כולו גלה מארצו. אליבא דליפשיץ זוהי תקופה משמעותית ביותר בגיבושו החברתי, הדתי, והכלכלי של העם וחלה בו המשכיות ושגשוג כמעט בכל התחומים. דברים אלו לא נכתבו במקרא היות שההיסטוריוגרפיה המקראית הדגישה את חשיבות שבי ציון מבבל ומיעטה בחשיבות היישוב שנשאר, זאת מחמת העובדה כי האליטה ששבה מבבל סרבה להשלים עם העובדה שהעם הנותר בארץ ניהל את חייו כמקדם בעוד שהמקדש בירושלים עמד בחורבנו והעם כמעט כולו התיישב בשפלה ומצא לו אתרי פולחן חלופיים.
