סמכותנות של הימין
סמכותנות של הימין (באנגלית: Right-Wing Authoritarianism) היא מונח בפסיכולוגיה המתאר טיפוס אישיות של אדם הכפוף מאוד לדמויות הסמכות שלו, פועל באגרסיביות בשם הדמויות האמורות, ושמרן במחשבה והתנהגות.[1] המונח נטבע לראשונה על ידי הפסיכולוג בוב אלטמאייר בשנת 1981.[1] השכיחות של טיפוס אישיות זה באוכלוסייה משתנה מתרבות לתרבות. מחקרים מלמדים כי לחינוך והשכלה תפקיד מכריע בהתפתחותה של האישיות.[2]
תאודור אדורנו היה הראשון שהציע את קיומה של אישיות סמכותנית כחלק מניסיון להסביר את עליית הפשיזם והשואה, אך התאוריה שלו ספגה ביקורת משום שהתבססה על פסאודו-מדע. אלטמאייר בכל זאת הרגיש שאדורנו עלה על משהו, ולכן פיתח תאוריה קפדנית יותר מבחינה מדעית, תוך שכלול הרעיונות המוקדמים של אדורנו.[1]
שאלון הסמכותנות הימנית של אלטמאייר פותח במשך שנים, והוא מהווה מדד חד-ממדי של 30 פריטים שמקובצים לשלושה אשכולות:[3][4]
ציות סמכותני – רמה גבוהה של ציות לסמכויות הנתפסות כממוסדות ולגיטימיות בחברה.
תוקפנות סמכותנית – תוקפנות כללית, המכוונת כלפי אנשים שונים, הנתפסת כראויה לעונש על ידי הסמכויות הממוסדות.
שמרנות – רמה גבוהה של דבקות במוסכמות החברתיות הזוכות לאישור של החברה ומוסדותיה.
אלטמאייר (1988) לא דן בשאלה אם סמכותנות היא תכונה המאפיינת גם את אנשי השמאל, אלא התיימר למדוד באמצעות הסולם שפיתח רק את הסמכותנות של הימין. הוא תיאר כמה ניסויים שעשה בעזרת טכניקת העימות הערכי של רוקיץ' (1973). הניסויים הללו הראו שאנשים המחזיקים בדעות קדומות מעניקים משקל נמוך ביותר לערך השוויון.[5] מאוחר יותר שינה אלטמאייר את דעתו, וטען בספרו בשנת 1996 כי קיימת גם סמכותנות של השמאל.[6][7]
סולם RWA הועמד במבחנים אמפיריים רבים ושונים בידי אלטמאייר עצמו בקנדה ובידי חוקרים אחרים בארצות הברית, אוסטרליה, בדרום אפריקה, ובגרמניה המערבית.[8] במחקר שבוצע בישראל נמצא השאלון כבעל תוקף בקרב שני עמים: החברה היהודית והחברה הפלסטינית המוסלמית בשטחים המוחזקים בידי ישראל משנת 1967.[9]
ריי (1985) שהוא ממתנגדיה החריפים ביותר של האישיות הסמכותנית, ביקר את התאוריה של אלטמאייר בטוענו שאין היא כלל מדד לסמכותנות, אלא מדד נוסף של שמרנות.[10]
