(Explore) I hope you have enjoyed our trip, east to west, on Main Street, Mesa. It began as the Apache Trail near the Superstition Mountains and Apache Junction, and now we end towards the western edge of Mesa, a couple of miles away from Arizona State University. The parking lot for my office in the Business School is in fact right off of this road. I did these on an early Sunday morning so all the parking lots were empty. Only once did I get out of the car (when I walked through downtown Mesa); these are all out-the-window shots. Being on an empty road early Sunday morning also allows you to make the crazy stops and turnarounds you need to do when you drive by a shot and decide that you *must* have it! Finally, it has only taken me a year to realize that dawn and dusk are best for shots in Phoenix, as anytime else the sun is too harsh and just drowns everything out. At least at the edges of the day the sunlight has a bit of softness to it. (By the way--it was 110F here yesterday.) |
