English: Clementi square piano (1829).

This piano was made by a company founded by Frederick William Collard and Muzio Clementi. It has a compass of nearly six octaves. The naturals are topped with two piece ivory veneers, with ebony for the sharps and flats.

The name-board just behind, is of rose wood, with fretwork panels either side. The rest of outfacing surfaces appears to be mostly of mahogany, although much of this is quite likely to be veneer. Its folding music rest is still in situ. It has four reeded turned legs with brass castors, yet there appear to another two mounting blocks along the front, suggesting that it originally had six legs.

Provenance: Once owned by Mrs. Pringle of the Feathers Inn, Chiswick, London. United Kingdom. Early in the 20c it was moved to Hogarth's House. It then went to Gunnersbury Park Museum for restoration in 1996. In 1997 it was transferred to Boston Manor House where it still resides at the time of writing.
