Secretary of Energy, Dr. Ernest Moniz, visited Israel April 3-5 for a round of meetings and events with Israeli government and private sector leaders. After meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Secretary Moniz also met his counterpart, Minister of Infrastructure, Energy, and Water Resources, Dr. Yuval Steinitz, with whom he signed an amendment to the U.S.-Israel Energy agreement. Secretary Moniz was treated to a walking tour of Masada, a helicopter flight over central Israel, and, in focusing on the energy-water nexus of U.S.-Israel energy cooperation, toured the world’s largest seawater desalination plant at Sorek. Secretary Moniz also spoke to the Israel Energy Conference, before meeting and speaking with students at the Weizmann Institute in Rahovot.
