תקציר

תיאור A Royal Air Force Coastal Command Boeing Fortress Mark IIA (s/n FK212, "V") of No. 220 Squadron RAF based at Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, in flight over the Atlantic Ocean in May 1943.
At 2015 hrs on 14 June 1943, FK212 (pilot F/O C.F. Callender) strafed a group of 3 outbound U-boats (U-257, U-600 and U-615) in the Bay of Biscay. The Fortress was hit and later shot down by a German Junkers Ju 88C fighter of 15./KG 40 (pilot Lt. Lothar Wolff) about 90 km north-west of Cape Ortegal at 2040 hrs. All nine crewmen were killed.
