Judge Van Wyck has a mostextensive acquaintance in all parts of thecountry. Robert Anderson Van Wyck was born inthe City of New York, son of William andLydia A. (Maverick) Van Wyck. He wasprepared for college at the celebrated WilsonAcademy in North Carolina and later gradu-ated from Columbia College and was vale-dictorian of his class. He then passed anumber of years in banking and mercantilelife, after which he became an able lawyerand enjoyed a large practice for many years.He was active in politics and took a very im-portant part therein, attending many conven-tions, state and national.
