English: Spring has finally sprung! Tulips are popping up all around Ottawa for the annual Tulip Festival. They're a gift from the Netherlands to thank Canada for providing refuge to their Royal Family and the Canadian Armed Forces for helping to liberate the Dutch people during the Second World War. Every time I see the tulips I'm reminded of the bravery and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and our continued relationship with the Netherlands. Français : Le printemps est enfin là! Les tulipes s'ouvrent partout à Ottawa pour le Festival annuel des tulipes. Elles sont un cadeau des Pays-Bas au Canada pour le remercier d'avoir offert refuge à sa Famille royale et aux Forces armées canadiennes d'avoir aidé à libérer la population néerlandaise pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. Chaque fois que je vois les tulipes, je pense au courage et au sacrifice de nos hommes et femmes en uniforme et à notre relation durable avec les Pays-Bas. |
