ג'ון אורשל

ג'ון אורשל (באנגלית: John Urschel; נולד ב-24 ביוני 1991) הוא מתמטיקאי אמריקאי-קנדי ושחקן פוטבול לשעבר, ששיחק בתפקידי גארד וסנטר בקבוצת בולטימור רייבנס בליגת ה-NFL. חבר במכון ללימודים מתקדמים באוניברסיטת פרינסטון.

ביוגרפיה

ג'ון אורשל נולד בויניפג, שבקנדה, לוניטה פארקר, עורכת דין; וג'ון אורשל, כירורג.

בוגר תואר ראשון (מ-2012) ושני (2013) במתמטיקה מאוניברסיטת המדינה של פנסילבניה ובעל דוקטורט במתמטיקה מMIT (סיים ב-2021). באוניברסיטאות הללו גם לימד ותרגל.

תחומי המחקר שלו הם אלגברה ליניארית, אנליזה נומרית, תורת הגרפים ולמידת מכונה. פרסם מאמרים בכתב העת Computation Mathematics.

אורשל הוא בעל מספר ארדש 4.

אורשל הוא שחמטאי חובב. בשנת 2016 הפסיד במשחק ראווה של שחמט בזק מול שחמטאי הצמרת העולמית, פביאנו קרואנה, כאשר לאורשל הוקצבו 3 דקות ולקרואנה 2 דקות.

קריירה בפוטבול

בדראפט 2014 הוא נבחר על ידי בולטימור רייבנס. הוא השתתף ב-40 משחקים מהם ב-13 היה בהרכב פותח.

ב-27 ביולי 2017 הודיע על פרישה מפוטבול.
