שם הערך הוא "קיפוד מצוי", והוא עוסק במין Erinaceus concolor. באנציקלופדיה של ויינט כותבים שהקיפוד המצוי הוא "Erinaceus europaeus קיפוד מצוי, מין ממשפחת הקיפודיים. התת-מין המצוי בישראל הוא E. e. concolor, והוא קטן יותר מהתת-מינים המצויים בארצות צפוניות יותר" [1], ומכאן שהערך עוסק רק בתת-מין המצוי בישראל, ולא במין המכונה קיפוד מצוי. הבינוויקי מוביל לערך באנגלית על Southern white-breasted hedgehog, שם כתוב "is very similar in lifestyle and appearance to the European hedgehog, but the former has a white spot on its chest. For a long time these two species were considered to be one. The northern white-breasted hedgehog was formerly recognized as a subspecies of the Southern white-breasted hedgehog but newer investigations see both as different species. לא הבנתי

אני אהבתי את מה שכתבתם אבל מה שלא הבנתי מה שונה בין קיפוד ים לקיפוד מצוי
