I checked the diff you linked, and couldn't see any warnings in that edit. Can you try and clarify what you are asking? Thanks Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:47, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

  • I do not comprehend your message either. I do not comprehend this warning. I do not know how to make my questions more explicit. Sincerely.

hopiakuta DonFphrnqTaub Persina (talk) 19:30, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

"I do not comprehend this warning." I still fail to see where you were warned about anything because you weren't. Perhaps you could explain what bit of it you thought was a warning? It seems like you don't speak English as a first language - perhaps if you could tell us what other langugage(s) you speak someone can help out, we can speak a good range of languages between us on Wikinews. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 19:40, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Just wanted to point out that a notice at this user's en.wp talk says that This user interacts with Wikipedia using outdated equipment and at sometimes their output may appear strange. In any case, i'm having a bit of difficulty understanding what you are trying to say. If it's hard for you to express yourself in english, please tell us what other languages you know, perhaps someone will understand it and be able to help. Tempodivalse [talk] 20:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
  • Well, you have, completely backhandedly, responded. Thank You.
  • To me, this "{{review }}" seems convoluted, as well as a threat: therefore, a convoluted threat.
  • North America, American-English; possibly yours is England-English, or, we simply have contrary perceptions. Maybe I am the first person to ever disagree with you. I do disagree with many people. A lot. Maybe it is my own language; are you a linguist?

hopiakuta DonFphrnqTaub Persina (talk) 20:30, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

If you have only come here to attack people who try to help you then you can go away again. Review is not a threat either. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 21:33, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

I only came to ask what I am permitted to do; that got my linguistic usage mocked.

hopiakuta DonFphrnqTaub Persina (talk) 23:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Nobody mocked you. Two users have tried to work out what your warnings and threats were about, and you responded by attacking us ("Well, you have, completely backhandedly, responded"; "Maybe I am the first person to ever disagree with you"). Bluntly, based on your inability to comprehend to the point that you felt there was a warning being issued because someone changed a date parameter I really do doubt that any form of English is your first language. Now, I'm going to ask you a straight question: Are you here to contribute or not? If not, get lost. If so, then try and work with people instead of blasting them when they do their best to help you. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 23:32, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Aside from the fact that I think that that is another mock, you could have simply told me that that blue box had only been directed @ people making major changes in the article, if that is what you mean. &, for all I know, we may be from the same neighborhood; &, even if I were from some other galaxy, which I am not, that would not make the mock any better. But, I do think that you've said that the warning is not directed @ me.

If you could drop the language thing, then so would I.

Now, if you want to answer my suggestion about the spelling of "highjack", that might be friendly.

Or, maybe the absurdity of someone from 1968 escaping Cuba.

Or, we could comment on how this might affect the embargo.

Or, how we might make that blue box simpler to read.

There are thousands of much more friendly issues that we can write about.

But, considering that I have many disabilities, & that trading insults is physically debilitating, as well as emotionally debilitating, I would rather discuss the more community issues.

Please?

Arbirary break - a waste of time?

  • Let's just focus on the article. I'm a native English speaker, and the spelling I would expect is hijack. That's British English, and I believe my colleagues on the other side of the pond use the same spelling.
Now, the review template is the last editor saying they think the story is ready for someone to fact-check, review, and possibly publish. If you disagree with that, please speak up now. And yes, while you may be sensitive that English is not your first language, try not to get upset if comments seem critical. People want to understand the issues and concerns you are trying to raise. Yes, I can see you are complaining about the title "Luis Soltren surrenders in 1968 hijacking of Pan Am 281" I saw that in the recent changes list and thought someone had created a historical article instead of a current one. Would "Luis Soltren, suspect in 1968 hijacking of Pan Am 281, surrenders" be better? --Brian McNeil / talk 00:09, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I had heard about it on msnbc; I had to listen a few times before I could comprehend it: then, I went internet.

The blue box is difficult to read, to me; maybe, I might not be the only one scared of it.

It could link to the wiki Bob Morgenthau article;

I do continue to spell highjack: there is no hellojack, unless it is in telecommunication;

more spelling: knife; knives.

hopiakuta DonFphrnqTaub Persina (talk) 00:40, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Do you have a home wiki? You are failing to communicate in any comprehensible manner in using English. North Amrerica, United States of America, these are geographical and geopolicial areas. How does wrapping them up in asterisks relate to the content of this article, or in any way suggest how it could be improved? American English? This, again, is irrelevant to the content of the article. The English should be consistent whatever notional spelling scheme is used. Nobody can drop the language thing because, quite frankly, nobody can see what points you are trying to make.
And, given this difficulty you evidently have expressing yourself in a close-to-articulate manner in English, you should not be raising issues of spelling. You are the only person to mention "hellojack" - what is this? I begin to suspect you are deliberately wasting people's time. And the non-sequitur that is 'knife' versus 'knives'; the first is the singular form, the latter the plural. Does this in any way, shape, or form have an iota of relevance to the article?
From the Wikinews main page you should be able to find a range of other language Wikinews projects that you may be better able to positively contribute to. If you respond to this comment, and fail to convey any actual criticism or suggested improvement that is comprehensible I will expend no more effort to discuss this with you. --Brian McNeil / talk 01:31, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Because you continually attack me f/ being from some mythological language, on some mythological continent. & I had learned the difference between "knife" & "knives" in elementary-school. &, the way that I spell "hijack" = "hellojack"; "highjack" refers to something that occurs "up".

If I write differently, maybe it's my disability, maybe my politics, or whatever; but, to presume who someone is may be handicappist &/or racist.

But, in my elementary-school, they had taught us to say neither "knifes", nor "nifes",......

Hoods cannot spell:

".... using guns and knifes they had smuggled in a diaper bag. "

&, that blue box will always be horrific.

Luis Armando Peña Soltren surrendered to United States law enforcement at 1:30 Sunday, at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). He had arrived on a flight from Havana, Cuba, where authorities say he has resided 41 years to avoid prosecution. Soltren is charged with air piracy and kidnapping, for participating in the November 24, 1968 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 281, which coincidentally took off from JFK.

According to the December 1968 indictment against him, by then-United States Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau, Soltren conspired in the hijacking with Jose Rafael Rios Cruz, Miguel Castro and Alejandro Figueroa. Soltren, Cruz, and Castro seized control of the flight, originally destined for Puerto Rico, using guns and knifes they had smuggled in a diaper bag. They forced the pilot to land at Havana instead. Such hijackings were frequent at the time, with 30 successful or attempted diversions to Cuba in 1968.

Cruz and Castro pled guilty in the 1970's, and received 15 and 12-year sentences, respectively. Figueroa was acquitted in 1969.

United States Attorney Preet Bharara announced that Soltren would "finally face the American justice system that he has been evading for more than four decades." Soltren reportedly arranged his return because he wanted to visit his wife, who lives in either Florida or Puerto Rico. He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.

  • Welcome! Thank you for joining Wikinews; we'd love for you to stick around and get more involved. To help you get started we have a short essay that will guide you through the process of writing your first full article. There are many other things you can do on the project, but its lifeblood is new, current, stories written neutrally.
  • As you get more involved you will want to look into the key policies for the project and other discussions you can participate in, so keep this message on your collaboration page and refer to the other links in it if you have problems or want to learn more.

  • I have been punished because I had asked about what I am permitted to do, because the warning-box is convoluted, because I prefer the spelling "highjack", & because I contend that "knifes" is not an appropriate word-spelling; but, "Welcome! Thank you for joining Wikinews".
