ככלל, הרופא ימנע מהזרקה לתוך אזורים דלקתיים, זיהומים או כאלה עם הרפס פעיל, פציינטים עם סיכון להתפרצות הרפס יטופלו בתרופות נוגדות לפני ואחרי הטיפול. מכיוון שלא קיימים מחקרים רפואיים לגבי תהליך מילוי קמטים בהריון ובהנקה רופאים רבים נמנעים מלהזריק במצבים אלה. פציינטים אשר לוקחים מדללי דם ייצטרכו להיוועץ עם הרופא באשר לאפשרות לעבור את הטיפול.
