החלמה היא התאוששות הדרגתית בבריאות האדם לאחר שחלה במחלה או נפצע והיא קורת כאשר החולה חוזר לבריאותו [1] במובן זה, " התאוששות " יכולה להיחשב כמונח נרדף. לעיתים החלמה כוללת גם טיפול בחולים לאחר שעברו ניתוח גדול, [2] [3] ובמסגרתו הם נדרשים לבקר את הרופא לצורך בדיקות סדירות[4][5].
